About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 7th Signal Command (Theater) 93rd Signal Brigade, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
Duties
Serves as the Security Specialist responsible for the implementation of all phases of the Regional Network Enterprise Center (NEC) security program.
Responsible for conducting security inspections and spot checks, recommending and/or taking appropriate corrective action, and preparing reports of inquiry.
Advises and represents the Regional-NEC Director and Deputy Director on all matters related to security pertaining to national security threats of compromise, unauthorized disclosure, or espionage.
Studies, interprets, and adapts security-related regulations, precedents, and instructions from higher headquarters.
Writes resulting impact statements and revises or implements internal standard operating procedures and methodology. Provides technical supervision to Regional-NEC Security Coordinators.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Anti-Terrorism Officer level II certification.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI) based on an SSBI.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid government driver's license.
- Subject to 2 hour call back for emergency and/or security related issues.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience administering established Information and Personnel security programs; AND performing security investigations and analysis. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11).

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
