About the Position: Serves as Chief, Environmental Services Branch, Hospital Housekeeping Officer and Contracting Officer Representative (COR) responsible for carrying out the installation and administration for housekeeping, interior design, linen, laundry controls, regulated medical waste, non-regulated waste, and recycling at Camp Pendleton, California.
Duties
Monitor details in ordering new furnishings, interior changes from fire protection control, colors in drapes to materials used in furniture, ensuring hospital aesthetics are maintained, the durability, clean ability, expense,.
Plan, coordinate and ensures all recycling programs formulated for the main treatment facility are functioning.
Develop procedures and implements processes for effective programs based on information collected from supervisors, employees, nursing and medical/surgical staff and others associated with the organization, as well as outside agencies.
Serve as primary source of information to contracting officer in fee determination and evaluation of costs incurred.
Advise management on facility and equipment changes in regard to durability, safety, aspects of sanitation, cleanliness, suitability, expense and aesthetic values impacting environmental services.
Requirements
- A pre-placement medical examination may be required.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- This position may require the incumbent to work irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in daily operation of a medical waste management program; assisting in monitoring appropriate usage of all linen items within a medical center; assisting in conducting inspections on hospital grounds to adhere to environmental sanitation standards; assisting managers with human resource management for the department; assisting in consolidating budget information to determine yearly cost allocations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
