Duties

Installs, overhauls, and maintains equipment and machinery that utilize mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic principles as they relate to dams, large reservoirs, or irrigation projects. Equipment includes such items as hydraulically controlled drum gates, turbines hoisting equipment, electrically and mechanically controlled radial and bulkhead gates, valves, mechanical gears and controls related to these, and auxiliary and drainage pumps. Work involves the disassembly, inspection, determination of conditions of component parts, repair or replacement of worn parts, reassembly and adjustments, to close tolerances. Machines parts to specified tolerances, and uses various welding processes to weld commonly used metals of various sizes, shapes, and thicknesses. May perform masonry, carpentry, and painting. Performs rigging. Utilizes a variety of tools and equipment, power tools, metal band saw, drill press, lathe, metalwork forge, radial saw, impact wrench, gas, arc and electric welder. Operates gantry, bridge, crawler, and mobile cranes, hydrocrane, crawler tractors, front-end loaders, backhoe, graders, dump truck, boom truck, and motor vehicle
