The Nursing Clinical Transporter serves the goal of providing customer service to our internal and external customers through excellent communication skills. The encumber is knowledgeable about patient safety, interpersonal relationship skills, infection control policies, safe patient handling procedures and complies with reusable medical equipment guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Duties
The Nursing Clinical Transporter works under the direction of the Transport Supervisor and assigned duties through the Transport Dispatcher to transport supplies, labs, patients, prosthetics, precure stretchers, and wheelchairs in a timely manner.
During downtown, the Nursing Clinical Transporter works to ensure stretchers and wheelchairs are gathered throughout the organization and placed in designated areas. In addition, the encumber continually assess for broken wheelchairs and stretchers, places a work order and takes the unsafe equipment out of patient use.
Major roles include, but are not limited to:
Promotes a customer service friendly demeanor while representing JAHVAH.
Provides safe and efficient transportation of patients to various locations within the facility.
Serves as escort of patients throughout the facility to include discharge.
Serves to transport supply items, laboratory specimens, and others as assigned.
Assists in transportation and duties during a Final Salute
Applies infection control/safety protocols per hospital policy.
Basic Life Support certified and able to initiate emergency intervention as warranted.
Communicates clearly and professionally to co-workers, supervisors, staff, and families portraying professional customer service.
Work Schedule: The Nursing Transport Department operates 7 days a week, 0730-1600 or 1130-2000 including weekends and holidays. The encumber will float between 8-hour shifts as scheduled according to organizational needs.

Qualifications

Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR): Applicants must meet the below IOR to be further considered.
Specialized Experience, positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. OR,
Successful completion of 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in subjects related to the position.

General experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Experience assisting and transferring patients in wheelchairs, stretcher, or medical beds.
Coordinating patient transportation.
Cleaning, storing, of disposing of Reusable Medical Equipment (RME).
Conducting inventories of transport equipment.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have two years above high school. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)

Combining Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements at grades GS-4.
