The incumbent position will be located within the Veteran Affairs Health Care System, North Florida/South Georgia, Andrew K. Baker Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT). Assist PACT in providing continuity of care for patients of all ages. This includes assisting with direct patient care to promote wellness and preventive health such as vital signs, and restocking exam rooms. Expected to work independently of assigned duties.
Duties
Major Duties include but not limited to:
Receives/interprets/performs requests for procedures.
Secures patient's confidence and cooperation during all encounters with patients.
Locate and set-up of equipment/accessories for testing/procedures and utilizes appropriate positioning of the patient.
Operates equipment and assists medical staff with or performs diagnostic procedures.
Provides general clerical/administrative support coordination work for the unit.
Teaches patients proper health care practices.
Maintains patient record and documents patient care results.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Physical Requirements: The physical demands are primarily standing and walking, but also some bending, lifting and carrying light items. The work requires above average agility and dexterity. Standing for long periods of time may be required, as well as the ability to lift, pull, push 20-30 pounds.

Individual Occupational Requirements
Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.
In addition to meeting the IOR, you may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience-GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes:
Performs patient check-in including obtaining and recording vital signs, height, weight, and chief complaint; placing information into electronic patient medical records.
Monitor patients during and after procedures and report observations to PCP/RN/LPN.
Provides written and/or verbal teachings to patients and families regarding procedures and preparations for diagnostic tests and the requirements of home self-care for injuries or ailments.
Maintain quality of control standards of laboratory instruments use for blood and body specimen test, maintaining adequate supplies, maintenance of equipment and recognizing and reporting any malfunctions.
Perform reception duties by assisting visitors to the office.
