This position is located in Office of Administration, Facilities Management Division, Real Property & Environment Branch. As an Environmental Protection Specialist, you will manage environmental protection and compliance activities in conjunction with DHS priorities to support the advancement of USCIS' climate change initiatives, resiliency, and sustainability efforts.

Duties

Manages USCIS environmental compliance and protection projects and activities. Ensures USCIS compliance with environmental laws and regulations issued by Federal, state, and local governments through long-range planning. Provides advice and assistance, reviews, and comments on matters relating to the development, maintenance, and execution of environmental plans to implement provisions of federal, state, and local environmental laws. Analyzes data, prepares reports of findings, recommends corrective or remedial actions, and prepares and conducts training and briefings. Develops environmental implementation policy and guidance for USCIS planning, projects, and activities to determine the effects of agency activities. Participates actively on committees and task forces at DHS and USCIS pertinent to environmental compliance and protection.

Qualifications

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 11/15/2024. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 11/15/2024. Selective Placement Factor: You must have experience as a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Climate Change Professional (CCP) program participant. This experience must be documented in your resume. Failure to do so may result in an ineligible rating. GS-12: You qualify at the GS-12 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position.
