About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Tooele Army Depot. This position serves as a Toolmaker Leader in the Pilot Model Shop.
Duties
Passing on to other workers instructions received from supervisor, and starts work by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led.
Checking work in progress and when finished, checks for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines.
Demonstrating proper work methods and answering workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and technical directions.
Working along with other workers, setting the pace, and constructing, repairing, maintaining, and calibrating tools, jigs, fixtures, dies, punches, and gauges.
Designing, experimenting, developing, manufacturing, modifying, and/or shop testing prototype and pilot models of ammunition tools, machines, and gages used for renovation, demilitarization, demolition, maintenance.
Seting up and operating machine tools, including universal and vertical milling machines, engine lathes, planners, shapers, grinders, radial and sensitive drill presses, boring mills, etc.
Performing cutting, turning, drilling, boring, reaming, tapping, shaping, grinding, lapping, and finishing operations, involving tolerances from .005 to .0001 inch.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Toolmaker Leader without more than normal supervision. - Experience performing the following journeyman duties: Programming, setting up and operating machines of the machinist trade, i.e., internal and external grinders, tool and cutter grinders, milling machines, lathes, shapers, and profile grinders; to include material selection and machining to very close tolerances.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Required to stand, stoop, bend and reach. Required to lift/carry up to 44 lbs. Mechanical lifting devices/other employees are available to assist with lifts of 45 lbs and over.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside in a machine shop environment wherein there is danger to the skin and eyes from flying metal chips, abrasive particles, and hot metal; possibility of skin irritations from contact with coolants, lubricants, and abrasive compounds; danger to the fingers, hands and other parts of the body from cutting tools, grinding wheels, rotating work pieces, and moving parts of machines. Subject to the usual dirt and noise of machine shop activities.
