This position is located in the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, Engineering Service, Maintenance and Operations, Operations Section. The Operations Supervisor manages the operations and maintenance program.

Duties

Ensures the supervision of operations personnel and the management, operations, and maintenance of buildings, and other assigned facility locations Assigns, directs, and reviews work of subordinates, and evaluate work performance Plans, schedules, and coordinates work operations Ensures work completed is evaluated for the overall effective and economical use of personnel, equipment, materials, and methods to meet goals and quality standards Participates in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests Performs scheduled/unscheduled inspections of work in progress Ensure proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used to perform work and safety protocols are followed Develops short and long range maintenance work plans Serves as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) responsible for multiple service contracts and equipment related purchases Prepares and submits contract packages along with any revisions to the contracting office Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm; Subject to change based on the needs of the service/facility. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/14/2024. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Supervises employees who install, repair, and maintain facility systems. Position requires walking, standing, bending, sitting, crawling and climbing. Requires working in uncontrolled environments from ladders and rooftops. Occasionally subject to uncomfortable and possibly dangerous working conditions and exposure hazards encountered in hospital trades and various types of infections.
