THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a PHYSICAL SECURITY SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D2162000 is part of the KS 190 Air Refueling Wing, National Guard.
Duties
As a PHYSICAL SECURITY SPECIALIST, GS-0080-09, you will be responsible for the management and administration of the Intrusion Detection System (IDS)program. Advises the MAJCOM SF IDS program manager of any base or site activities that will impact the Integrated Base Defense Security Systems (IBDSS) program. This includes, but is not limited to, mission changes resulting in increase or decrease of resources, reconfiguration of resource areas, and construction of facilities on or in the vicinity of current and planned sensor locations. Reports and documents all IDS maintenance requirements to the servicing maintenance organization. Monitors IDS false and nuisance alarms and, when necessary, requests assistance from the maintenance organization to resolve problems and deficiency. Coordinates with maintenance and materiel management functions to ensure sufficient spare parts and maintenance are available to support the IBDSS equipment and component. Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5-day workweek, then a 4-day workweek (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80-hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.

Requirements
- KANSAS NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

- The work may require the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle and an appropriate, valid driver's license is required.
- Must pass initial formal law enforcement training school as determined by functional manager (NGB/A7S).
- Upon selection, this position will require the completion of AF Instructor Methodology Course or other approved principle of instruction course approved by functional manager
- This position may be designated mission essential based on local conditions. Mission essential personnel report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release
- Incumbent may be required to wear special protective clothing such as coats, boots, vests, gasmasks, helmets, body armor, hearing protection, etc. Incumbent may be exposed to high levels of noise such as aircraft engines.
- The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance within one year of appointment

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have the general experience gained in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work to do the following tasks:
Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions;
Plan and organize work; and
Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have experience equivalent to the GS 07 level with knowledge of DoD and AF security regulations, instructions, practices, principles, and procedures including force protection, integrated base defense, anti-terrorism, and physical security. Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of program related issues and problems. Knowledge of safety, security, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of police dispatch and alarm monitor functions.
Must have at least 24-months experience, education, or training in planning, directing, coordinating, and controlling installation and law enforcement activities. The incumbent must have experience providing training in areas related to this position and analyzing reports of investigations and maintaining security records
