This vacancy is for a GS-0028-11, Environmental Protection Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SECTOR MOBILE ENGINEERING/SUPPORT DIVISION. Duty location will be determined upon selection.
Duties
You will serve as a/an Environmental Protection Specialist and ensure environmental program activities and operations precisely comply with applicable laws, statutes, regulations, Executive Orders (EOs), and departmental/Coast Guard directives, instructions, and policies, protects the natural, cultural, and human environments, and contribute to a safe and healthful workplace
Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Reviewing documentation to ensure compliance with applicable laws, statutes, regulations.
Identify environmental waste and make recommendations for disposal/containment.
Generating reports on environmental impacts, hazardous violations and protection efforts.
OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level education leading to such a degree.
OR Combination of education and experience.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
