Duties
- Responsible for locating trouble and maintaining electrical and solid state equipment in a hydroelectric generating station, switchyard, dam and appurtenant structures.
- Connects, services and troubleshoots up to 230kv power transformers, distribution transformers, instrument transformers, switches, switchboards, meters, relays, lifting equipment up to 290 ton cranes, elevators with 10,000 pound load capacity, and power circuit breakers up to 230kv and communication circuits.
- Interprets and works from electrical schematics, drawings, diagrams and blueprints in performing above work; is proficient in the use of tools and equipment of the trade.
- Observes and practices safe working habits and procedures required by the electrical industry and the project.
- When assigned as a powerplant operator, duties include starting and stopping hydroelectric generating units, operating valves, gates and all related electrical and mechanical equipment as directed by dispatchers or directed by supervisors.
