This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This is a Military Technician position with the 88th Readiness Division, Equipment Concentration Site 10, Branch Maintenance Activity 3 located in Helena, Montana.
This position requires an active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve.
Duties
Prepare accountability documents and warehouse reports.
Operate a variety of diesel and gasoline powered equipment to include generators, wheeled/track vehicles, and semi-trailer combinations up to 70 ton capacity.
Operate forklifts and equipment ranging from 2,000 pound to 50,000 pound capacity rough terrain, and various types of wheeled and tracked cranes up through 25 tons.
Utilize various types of forklifts and equipment to complete loading, unloading, warehousing, and preparing equipment and supplies for transport.
Perform preventative maintenance checks and services.
Perform operator maintenance to include servicing vehicle braking systems, checking vehicle lights, and taking oil samples.
Issue/receive equipment.
Store equipment in the warehouse.
Load outgoing equipment.
Prepare and post documents for the Army Oil Analysis Program and dispatching equipment.
Receive incoming warehouse items and equipment and checks them for damage and serviceability.
Requirements
- THIS POSITION REQUIRES ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP AS A SOLDIER IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE (USAR).
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
- This position requires a class A CDL.
- This position requires a medical examination prior to employment.
- This position requires a Personnel Security Investigation.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Motor Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: perform common operation of gasoline powered equipment and warehousing tasks; operate wheeled vehicles to include forklifts; perform preventive maintenance to include checking fluid levels and tire pressure, and perform basic warehousing tasks. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Physical Effort Required: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require the worker to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Works at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls when driving, turning, stopping and starting the forklifts and motor vehicles and in raising, lowering and tilting the forklift loads. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, material and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
Working Conditions: Subject to working outdoors during periods of inclement weather. Is exposed to serious injuries while operating vehicles over public roads and on the installation. Works on concrete floors and in drafty areas. May be exposed to fumes, fluids, dirt, battery acids, etc., resulting in bruises, cuts, burns, and skin irritation. Wearing of hearing protection and other safety equipment is required during all periods of exposure to hazardous conditions.
