You will serve as a SECRETARY (OA) in the Commander Joint Region Marianas of US NAVAL BASE GUAM.
Duties
You as the Naval Base Guam Executive Secretary will provide office management, administrative, and direct professional services to the senior leaders to include the Commanding Officer (CO), Executive Officer (XO), and Command Master Chief (CMC).
You will screen all visitors and telephone calls to/for the CO, XO, and CMC with complete authority for commitments of time.
You will answer many requests for information without reference to other sources when the reply can be based on policy, precedent, or personal knowledge of the command’s policies.
You will refer important business and high-ranking visitors to subordinates when CO, XO, and CMC are not available; when not practical, takes messages for their attention or makes later appointments for visitors.
You will maintain the installation CO and XO daily calendars, making appointments and arranging conferences without specific prior approval based on known schedules.
Requirements
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

- If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
- May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
- You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: supporting senior executives via preparing correspondence, maintaining daily calendars, providing protocol support for distinguished visitors and events, and making travel arrangements.
