The employee serves as an Equipment & Facilities Services Assistant (EFSA) in the Engineering section of the Ralph H Johnson VA Medical Center. The EFSA is assigned primary responsibility for the ongoing maintenance, control and administration of a comprehensive computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). This position is located in Charleston, South Carolina.
Duties

This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-07. At the GS-06 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-07. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds.
The Equipment & Facilities Services Assistant coordinates work priorities and takes policy direction from the Section Supervisors. Duties include but may not be limited to:
Utilizes a comprehensive computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) such as MAXIMO, to provide system control, oversight, repair history, analysis and quality of the data entered, and documentation of historical, current, and future maintenance operations for the ongoing maintenance program.
Ensures proper work order hierarchy exists to track planned and expended labor trade level and overall job level.
Responds to inquiries regarding work order status, equipment maintenance history, trouble reports, and other preventive maintenance questions.
Compiles, prepares and generates various reports (man hour reports, maintenance backlog reports, equipment downtime reports etc.), records, statistics, listings, charts and graphs, or other related information.
Trains others in the proper use of CMMS, generating work orders, generating Preventive Maintenance (PM) work orders.
Records and maintains information on safety certifications and inspections.
Attends project weekly maintenance meetings, and provides information to Maintenance, Operations, Repair and Readiness (MORR) Supervisor and others as to status of current jobs, planned work, reasons for delays, etc.
Prepares, executes, and/or tracks program specific information, such as workload data, incomplete work orders, and time and leave attendance.
Serves as a credit card holder, making purchases from all fund control points assigned to Engineering Service to maintain the Building Service Equipment and associated inventory.
Assists in formulating and coordinating the Engineering Budget through budget maintenance, purchasing and forecasting.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm

To qualify for this position at the GS-06 level, applicants must meet the following:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Requires one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the federal service that has given the applicant the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the Equipment and Facilities Services Assistant, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes performing administrative and customer service duties; using an automated computer system to initiate, schedule and track work orders; utilizing a variety of office equipment and software to prepare and generate reports and correspondence; maintaining databases; and purchasing supplies or procuring contracts. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work requires long periods of time working and keyboarding at a computer workstation. Periodically will involve some walking, standing, crawling, bending, or carrying of light items for initial investigation of requested work.
