You will serve as a SUPPORT SERVICES SPECIALIST in the Naval Reactors Representative's Office (NRRO) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will provide technical and administrative supervision and training for administrative support personnel assigned to NRRO. You will direct subordinates and review their work. You will ensure timely completion of assigned work. You will conduct corrective interviews with employees and recommend appropriate disciplinary action when warranted.

Requirements

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience overseeing administrative and office operations such as maintaining the office calendar, supply orders, and correspondence. Experience operating computers and various programs, and office equipment. Experience with budgetary methods, practices, procedures, regulations, and policies of the Department of the Navy that include planning office equipment purchases and/or repairs, planning for physical plant changes, and arranging for additional clerical support. Experience applying Joint Travel regulations to perform all aspects of official travel utilizing the Defense Travel System program. Experience developing, implementing and maintaining trend analysis database. GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with DON records management procedures Experience applying civilian personnel regulations, procedures, concepts and practices, and administrative policies and instructions for DOE, Naval Reactors, DOD, DON, NAVSEA, AND NNSY. Experience updating instructions and keeping them current, preparing reports, and advising NRR. Experience performing duties essential to the administration of office functions. Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE GS-9: Applicants may substitute the following education for experience: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree. The major study of such education is in public administration, business administration, industrial engineering, industrial management, or other administrative or management fields related to the position to be filled.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE GS-7: Applicants may substitute the following education for experience: One full academic year (18 semester hours) of graduate level education in public administration, business administration, industrial engineering, industrial management, or other administrative or management fields related to the position to be filled.
