This vacancy is for a GS-0525-6, Accounting Technician located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, TRACEN CAPE MAY COMPTROLLER BRANCH. Duty location will be determined upon selection.
Duties
You will serve as a/an Accounting Technician and be responsible in the role of this position to serve as an accounting technician with responsibility for classification, maintenance, and reconciliation of accounts controlled by the unit and for entering transactions into a financial management system
Qualifications
Basic Requirements: Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the federal service.
To qualify at the GS-06 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Specialized experience must include the following:
Knowledge of accounting policies, procedures, appropriations, allotments and reporting systems common to the financial management of the MWR program
Knowledge of the interrelationships of accounts (i.e. Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Statement) and transaction categories (Liabilities, Assets, Expenses, Inventory, etc).
Knowledge to serve as an expert in the operation and maintenance of the non-appropriated funds automated financial accounting system (currently QuickBooks Online).
Sufficient knowledge of accounting and financial control systems to prepare periodic status reports of allotments and identify areas warranting attention.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
