ABOUT THE POSITION: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. You may need to complete a 3 year probationary period, if applicable. This position is with 7th Signal Command, 93rd Signal Brigade, located at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

Duties

Respond to Second Regional Cyber Command (2RCC) regarding actions identified via Host Intrusion Prevention Software (HIPS) and Virus Scan Enterprise (VSE) network monitoring tools. Identify procedural or systems deficiencies or vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions. Coordinate with Defense Information Systems Agency , on issues regarding connectivity, vulnerability assessments, and scanning of the Non classified Internet Protocol Router Network )/Secret Internet Protocol Router Network networks. Perform appropriate monitoring and scanning of network resources, utilizing approved Army scanning and security tools, to ensure the network is being used IAW applicable Army and Department of Defense directives. Employ risk management principals to analyze threats and vulnerabilities of IT systems processing environment and recommends appropriate countermeasures to mitigate the risks. responsible for the discovery, collection and notification to local organizations, management and regional offices of all unauthorized software.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• Incumbent must possess Security + Certification
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
• Can be appointed additional duties supporting mission requirements such as primary or alternate Information Assurance Security Officer (IASO) and alternate Communications Security (COMSEC) Custodian.
• This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate Information Assurance certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, within 6 months of entry onto duty.
