Supporting the Pacific Beach Facility Assists in performing maintenance and repair tasks in a variety of crafts and trades, i.e., plumbing, carpentry, painting and electrical repairs. *Bi-weekly review of applicants beginning November 15, 2024*

Duties

*Bi-weekly review of applicants beginning November 15, 2024* Executes maintenance related tasks requiring the use of skills associated with a variety of trades. Performs recurring assignments, e.g. follows up on maintenance requests reported by guests, housekeeping or front desk Maintains work order log and follow up as required. Reports status to supervisor. Logs trouble calls with contractor as appropriate Incumbent assists in performing work in at least two of the following trades in the maintenance and repair of buildings and related fixtures: Plumbing: Assists in making plumbing repairs to sinks, faucets, commodes, tanks, urinals, P-traps, shut-off valves on washing machines and water supply that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, resealing, replacing defective parts or units, installing water heaters, garbage disposals, faucets and sinks. Washer/Dryer repair: Assists in performing routine maintenance of washers and dryers to include cleaning lint ducts and vents, replacing hoses and fittings as required and referring more complex problems to supervisor for action HVAC: Assists in recognizing the cause of faulty equipment and assists with making repairs on a variety of HVAC units as appropriate Electrical: Assistants in recognizing and reporting electrical problems. Assists with repairs as appropriate. Replaces fluorescent and incandescent ballasts, bulbs and tubes Carpentry: Assists in basic carpentry repairs such as repairing or replacing screens, window and doorframes, and molding and trim, and repair and replacement of drywall or similar products Painting: Assists in preparation of areas and standard coating methods such as brushing, rolling and spraying and ensure surfaces are fully coated, protected and free from drips and runs Ensures security of all guests is maintained at all times Ensures guest privacy is maintained at all times

Requirements

• Valid States Driver's license
• Possibility of workdays on weekends and holidays, as well as, rotating shifts, often consisting of other than normal duty hours
• Lifting up to 45 pounds (100 pounds assisted)
• Travel to other facilities may be required within the normal scope of duties

Qualifications

Incumbent must have knowledge in general carpentry and painting, and a general working knowledge of the basic shop machines and their safe operating procedures. Must have some practical knowledge of the general trades involve in maintenance work. Must be familiar with basic tools and materials required in making routine repairs to buildings and ground structures.
