About the position: This position will be assigned to the 72d Force Support Squadron NAF Accounting Office.

Duties

To serve as the Administrative Assistant performing various administrative and clerical duties in support of the 72d Force Support Squadron, reporting directly to the 72d FSS/FSR Resource Management Flight Chief. Performs office automation duties such as word processing in support of the administrative and clerical work. The position is located in a multi-layered organization with subordinate groups which differ from each other in terms of subject matter, function, relationships with other organizations and administrative requirements. There is a system of formal internal procedures and administrative controls, formal coordination among subordinate units and a formal progress reporting system which is sufficiently complex to require continuous attention on the part of the administrative assistant. Prepares a wide variety of recurring and non-recurring correspondence, reports and other documents and reviews and finalizes correspondence and documents prepared by others, handwritten or electronic drafts. Reviews and processes incoming and outgoing correspondence, materials, publications, regulations and directives. Receives telephone calls, greets visitors and ascertains the name of the caller or visitor. Performs other administrative and clerical work in support of the office/organization. Uses varied and advanced functions of word processing software to create, format, modify, edit and print a variety of letters, reports, memos and other textural documents. Requisitions office supplies, printing support and related materials and services. Makes travel arrangements, such as scheduling transportation and making reservations. Uses advanced functions to generate table of contents, import graphs or databases, create glossaries and align multiple columns. Independently carries out familiar assignments in accordance with previous instructions, standard procedures for creating documents or entering/retrieving data and established use of software packages. Receives and transmits electronic mail. Gathers monitors and maintains data to complete reports. Responds to inquiries and assists others. Actively participates in the organization substantive programs. Receives requests for information, responsible for the accuracy of staff summary sheets, advises when the information can be furnished and provides it personally from files and records or follows up with staff to see it is provided. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Experience working in a professional office setting which required administrative and clerical skill in managing filing systems and maintaining documents, such as attendance records and official correspondence. Must possess experience demonstrating customer service and business communication skills. Must possess a demonstrated knowledge of correct grammar and composition techniques needed to accurately prepare written material from a variety of sources. Must possess demonstrated proficiency in using computers for various applications to include Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Windows, Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook). Experience entering and maintaining information into automated databases. Excellent oral and written communications skills.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
