The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the Hazardous Material Management Program is in compliance with the state, federal and local regulatory environmental requirements.

Duties

Manages squadron environmental programs and process Operates and maintains the hazardous materials storage and issue process Reviews stock levels for authorized squadron HAZMAT items Establishes and conducts a periodically systematic inspection program for all procured and stored hazardous materials Prepares recurring and special reports and provides technical guidance on the use of hazardous materials

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions http://ttps://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=Group-Standards. GENERALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least three years of generalized experience, 1 year of which is at least equivalent to the NH-01 or GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes knowledge and use of environmental protection program principles and procedures applicable to a wide range of duties in one or more program areas, and a high level of skill in applying this knowledge in solving complex problems involving diverse aspects of environmental protection. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of a 4 year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit copies of your official college transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of governing laws, regulations, procedures, instructions, functions, and program requirements. 2. Knowledge of data entry and processing of transactions in an automated system. 3. Ability to read, interprets, and applies applicable reference material, such as regulations and manuals to accomplish tasks and resolve complex problems. 4. Ability to apply basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve problems and/or deviate from normal management procedures or program requirements. 5. Knowledge of local, state, and federal rules requirements regarding hazardous materials. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
