This position is located in the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Asst Secretary for Housing-Federal Housing Commissioner.
Duties
As an Environmental Protection Specialist, you will:
Be responsible for developing policies, procedures, and guidance documents to implement the Department's responsibilities on environmental matters involving Housing pursuant to the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and related Legislation and Executive technical and procedural assistance to all Housing staff, both field and Headquarters, on the above.
Apply new developments and theories to major environmental compliance problems not susceptible to remedy by established methods.
Serve on HUD's National Environmental Compliance Committee to conduct analysis of complex projects and programs, establishing nationwide precedence.
Make decisions or recommendations significantly changing, interpreting, or expanding important HUD programs for environmental compliance.
Provide leadership and input into HUD's environmental regulations and policies.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Planning, implementing, directing, or evaluating environmental compliance reviews, related to Federal assistance; AND
- Performing/directing the preparation of environmental compliance reviews; AND
- Serving as an advisor to executive management on environmental protection issues.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14 you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
