Duties
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing administrative and analytical support to senior management for the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), District of West Virginia. Typical work assignments will include:
Reviewing and analyzing a wide range of incoming/outgoing executive level correspondence and making determinations as to its appropriate disposition according to District, DOJ and EOUSA procedures and guidelines.
Dealing with staff and outside agencies' personnel as well as with higher Executive office staff in programming the U.S. Attorney's long-range calendar to drive others to early planning.
Handling of telephone calls, messages, and daily details of the First Assistant U.S. Attorney's and other senior management's travel and office itineraries, to include requests for transportation, accommodations, office calls, and briefings while on travel.
Developing comprehensive plans and strategies for the internal and external integration of day-to-day and long-range projects, actions, and activities requiring involvement of the First Assistant United States Attorney.
Coordinating and communicating with high level Department of Justice (DOJ) and Executive Office for United States Attorneys (EOUSA) personnel on high priority correspondence issues and policies and respond to inquiries of a sensitive or controversial nature.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
- You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.
Qualifications
GS-09: To be eligible at the GS-09 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience.
Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in Federal service. Specialized Experience is defined as:
coordinating and communicating with various personnel;
researching information related to project assignments;
composing a variety of written material;
reviewing a variety of correspondence created by others ensuring clarity, spelling, punctuation and grammatical accuracy; and
coordinating and planning events
OR
Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Business, Public Administration): a Master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR LL.B. or J.D., if related. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.

Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year.
Education

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above education requirements if you can show that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
