This position is located in Des Moines, Iowa, within the VA Central Iowa Health Care System and is located in the Carpentry shop of Facilities Management.

Duties

Major duties listed but not limited to: Carpentry - Plans, measures and lays out projects involving constructing, altering, repairing, and/or modifying flooring, walls, doors, windows, ceilings and other building components Painting - Prepares surfaces and uses appropriate coating techniques that ensure surfaces have a smooth-textured and decorative appearance and meet thickness and level requirements. Locksmithing - Installs and repairs locksets and locking mechanisms throughout the facility. Manages and maintains the facility key and lock control system. Concrete Finishing - Able to complete the final finishing of cement and concrete, and work on difficult projects, requiring more precise measurements and setting forms in curved as well as straight lines. Maintenance and Repairs - Performs routine maintenance and repair activities involving carpentry, painting, locksmith, masonry and other trades as assigned.
