About the Position: THIS POSITION IS WITH US ARMY LEGAL SERVICES AGENCY; Contract Litigation and Intellectual Property Division AT FORT BELVOIR, VIRGINIA.

Duties

Provide briefs to officials and/or the Trial Attorney as required on litigation related issues. Conduct extensive legal research related to contract appeals and/or bid protests. Interview witnesses and/or prospective witnesses in determining knowledge of disputed facts. Ensure timely and comprehensive responses in compliance with the law regarding contract litigation and bid protests. Plan and manage the legal calendar and/or progress of the litigation. Communicate with the client and/or other government agencies on case related matters.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • You may be expected to travel up to 10% for this position.

GS-09 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting legal research, gathering data related to contract appeals, and correcting case file deficiencies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: legal study, Criminal Justice, Law. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Assisting trial attorneys in contract disputes or bid protests; Performing legal research related to appeals analysis of precedent cases and Providing case law summaries. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: legal study, Criminal Justice, Law. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
