Duties

As Administrator of the Food Service Department, typical duties and responsibilities include, planning, controlling and evaluating department operations such as managing budget resources for the Food Service Department, establishing standards of sanitation, safety and security, developing menus and evaluating inmate acceptance of food quantity and quality.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Specialized Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Such experience must have demonstrated: Experience in the principles, practices and procedures of food service to perform and direct the specialized activities of the food program regular, medical and religious diets. Experience in procurement regulations and budget management. Experience in planning culinary activities to meet meal schedules. Experience in supervising and training other personnel in preparing and serving food. Experience in supervising food preparation and ensuring nutritional needs are met. Experience establishing standards of sanitation, developing menus and evaluating food quality. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the qualifications to perform the major duties of this position as described above. Credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities. **Your eligibility for consideration will be based on your responses to the questions in the application.**
