You will serve as a SUPERVISORY NAVAL ARCHITECT in the OCEAN ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT of PSNS and IMF.
Duties
You will prepare budget and man-hour estimates, project schedules, set performance standards, prepare reports on the progress, and preparing technical correspondence regarding work.
You will review investigations conducted by other organizational segments and report results.
You will maintain a management level attention to total program which will consist of analysis of the gross technical objectives, project schedules, delinquencies, material procurement, technical problem status, action items, and summary reports.
You will have responsibility for all the work performed by the Branch subject to final approval.
You will approve all contractor design work and provide development criteria to subordinates and contractors.
You will make continuing analyses of the state of development of the theory and experimental solutions to problems, the trends in performance requirements, and resulting problems.
You will provide administrative and technical supervision for engineers and technicians.
You will plan, distribute, coordinate and monitor work assignments of others.
You will evaluate performance, approve leave, make selections for vacant positions, hear and resolve Branch grievances or complaints and recommend disciplinary actions.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Naval Architect or Engineer overseeing the development of complex designs and specifications for naval vessels and engineering systems scheduled for alteration, repair, rebuilding, conversion, modernization, or rehabilitation.

Education
Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above)

Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
