Duties
Serves as a Distribution Facilities Manager performing in the role of Group Chief, Distribution and Specialized Missions Group at DLA Distribution San Joaquin.
Oversees the direction, leadership and management of all personnel, resources, workload, supplies and associated activities for three divisions.
Manages San Joaquin's Consolidation and Containerization Point (CCP); Unitized Group Rations (UGR); Kitting; Transportation Customer Service, Shipment Planning, and Truck Control; and the Automated Materiel Handling System (AMHS).
Plans, directs, and coordinates work, delegating responsibilities to subordinate supervisors, issuing instructions orally or in writing, reviewing work for compliance with orders and directives.
Ensures that work is progressing expeditiously and efficiently.
Establishes and implements daily goals and objectives as well as long-range plans and internal management controls for the purpose of controlling operations, determining costs, and evaluating performance.
Takes necessary action to correct program and operational deficiencies.
Serves as the primary group-level technical authority on distribution and transportation operations/programs, interpreting higher level guidance, and developing local operating plans and instructions.
Collaborates with senior management officials/senior staff officers in the development of the center's mission, goals and objectives.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Distribution Facilities Manager, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Overseeing the direction, leadership and management of personnel, resources, workload, supplies and/or associated activities of a facility.
Developing and implementing goals/objectives as well as long-term plans.
Supervising studies to develop, analyze, evaluate, and advise on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of work methods and related management functions.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
