Duties
This position serves as an Accounting Technician and is organizationally aligned under the VISN 12 Great Lakes Fiscal Service (GLFS) and located at 2245 Enterprise Drive, Suite 4514, Westchester, IL 60154. This position is responsible for receiving, reviewing, and classifying a variety of complex accounting documents and transactions, such as systems with extensive subdivision of accounts, frequent and varied adjustments to accounts, and a number of different programs.
Duties:
Reviews and approves requisitions for services, supplies, real property, equipment, and adjustments.
Directs and performs research of current accounts, historical data, source documents.
Performs audits, analysis, evaluations and related procedures for the purchase card system.
Prepares written reports on the results of audits, reviews, and evaluations.
Reviews and approves all receiving reports for transmission.
Researches all daily rejected transactions and makes corrections as necessary to resubmit transaction.
Evaluates internal controls to detect weaknesses in control procedures.
Examines credit memos and reclaims from vendors.
Offsets convenience checks against obligation documents.
Assists in training of personnel in the use of FMS, IFCAP and IPPS.
Reconciles and balances the Accrued Services Payable and Undelivered Orders Reports.
Serves as back-up to the travel clerk performing system administration and technical support advisor for the station's computerized travel program.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: 7am-3:30pm, 7:30-4:00pm, 8am-4:30pm, or 8:30am-5:00pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/07/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Grade Requirements:
GS-7 Specializezd Experience: Must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-6) in Federal Service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes but is not limited to: Experience with accounting principles, methods, procedures and techniques. Experience validating transactions and performing research to resolve inconsistencies. Experience examining accounts to analyze and detect trends and problems. Experience using various accounting system software package applications and computer systems to resolve problems of processed transactions.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary, but some walking, bending, and lifting is required as in a normal business environment.
