This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration.This position serves as an Engineering Technician for the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), Facilities and Property Management Division (BF), Space Planning and Projects Branch (BFS) in which they develop and support the electronic documents used in design and construction at NARA.
Duties
As an Engineering Technician (Drafting), you will:
Serve as the subject matter expert for advanced design software such as AutoCAD, REVIT, and 3D modeling software, and manage the agency's drafting processes and database accuracy. Convert engineering and technical data into usable formats using computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) tools.
Review plans, specifications, and cost estimates for technical adequacy; resolve complex problems, and ensure conformance to project requirements.
Using office automation software, assist in the preparation of support documents relating to technical studies or specification and design submissions using drafts of preliminary designs.
Perform construction contract setup of newly awarded contracts and regular audits of projects in an automated system, assuring data accuracy and quality.
Maintains a broad understanding of organizational activities and responsibilities to support multiple programs and/or functional teams. Performs a combination of routine, multiple, and varying tasks/assignments under the general direction of a manager, team leader or more experienced employee. Acts as an individual contributor and/or member of a team to assist other employees in day-to-day operations.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience for the GS-12 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-11 level, or equivalent, that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must include:
Providing construction reviews of plans and specifications for technical soundness and practicability; AND
Using computer aided design tools (such as Auto CAD) to create, edit, and maintain drawings for the building and production equipment; AND
Identifying and making recommendations on problems and related project matters.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F):
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11level for 52 weeks.
