In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of SPECIALIZED experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience demonstrating expertise with respect to the focal research areas studied within the Psychological Health & Readiness Department: quality of life studies; combat and operational stress; interpersonal trauma; mental health, including PTSD and depression; behavioral health, including substance abuse, suicidal and high risk behavior; gender issues; and translation of empirical findings into products or interventions to promote positive health outcomes.
Experience utilizing extensive professional knowledge of factors affecting psychological and behavioral health are needed so that the incumbent will be able to effectively and critically review the existing scientific literature and design and execute research studies on factors related to behavioral and psychological health.
Possessing proven track record to write and be successful at receiving grants that financially supports the total workforce required to conduct the work deemed mission critical by various stakeholders.
Experience utilizing advanced skills in designing and executing studies examining risk factors for adverse mental and behavioral health outcomes, and the effectiveness of health promotion interventions. Extensive skills in research methodology, evaluation, and analysis are required to inform the development of psychological and behavioral health research studies and health promotion intervention studies.
Experience with military is required in order for the incumbent to discern those issues that are critically important to the health and readiness of military personnel; this will inform the design of studies examining psychological and behavioral health of military personnel and their families, as well as the development of psychological and behavioral health interventions.
Experience utilizing computers and software packages for data base management and statistical analysis (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R) is required in order to determine the results of studies.
Experience writing and publishing scientific reports is required to achieve the research communication components of this position.
