The ideal candidate for the Science Policy Coordination, Collaboration & Reporting Division has experience working well on teams and identify biomedical research strategic priorities for an organization. This candidate will have experience working with legislative matters, strong communication skills, and will have lead outreach and engagement efforts. They will be able to pivot between time sensitive and long term priorities, with the ability to prioritize between them.
Duties
As the Supervisory Health Science Policy Analyst (Director, Science Policy Coordination, Collaboration, & Reporting Division), your duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
Serves as a key advisor not only to the Associate Director for Science Policy but also to the NIH leadership in decision-making affecting the entire operation and policy formulation of the NIH and the national biomedical and behavioral research community.
Oversees the Division of Science Policy Coordination, Collaboration & Reporting, providing effective management and quality control for Division products, and outstanding mentorship and opportunities for professional development for staff.
Conceptualizes issues papers and other documents that require the articulation of new policy and/or program initiatives; the description and status of current programs and activities; the statements, interpretations, and clarification of NIH policies and positions.
Proposes and implements effective coordination and engagement procedures across NIH, Federal and external partners to promote timely development of new policy and program initiatives in emerging areas of biomedical research.
Provides executive leadership and progressive mentorship for a team of policy professionals on a range of issues, including scientific, academic, public policy, public health, economic, social, ethical, and international matters relevant to the further development of NIH, its programs, policies, and the form of its operations.

Qualifications
In order to meet the Basic Qualification Requirements for a Supervisory Health Science Policy Analyst, GS-0601, you must meet:
Education Requirement:In order to qualify for Health Science Policy Analyst, GS-0601, position level you must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. (This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the basic education requirements, you must demonstrate at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the federal government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: developing and implementing biomedical research policies with internal and external stakeholders; analyzing the impact of proposed policies on current biomedical research procedures and practices; leading staff carry out scientific program priorities and objectives; providing advisory services to senior leadership on biomedical research policy issues affecting the organization; and writing high level reports or testimony related to biomedical research policy.
