Duties
The employee will act as an Administrative Specialist for the Special Programs Office (SPO) Director and Leadership Team, including SPO Program Managers and the SPO Administrative Officer. This role involves interpreting and analyzing administrative guidance while guiding, coordinating, and managing office priorities and daily workflows. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Manage and maintain accurate records and databases related to policies, compliance, and program activities
Address inquiries and resolve issues from staff or stakeholders regarding administrative, program, and project matters
Participate in briefings and meetings to inform and influence leadership decision-making
Brief stakeholders to report the progress toward meeting administrative goals or objectives
Facilitate and execute the planning and implementation of Office and stakeholder events/activities
Draft correspondence to provide administrative information to others

Qualifications
This position requires one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 (ZA-1 at NIST) level. Specialized experience is defined as: performing administrative tasks, functions, or activities (e.g., preparing agenda items, arranging/scheduling meetings, travel arrangements, record management, drafting correspondences, reports and memoranda) for an organization to ensure the daily execution of office operations in accordance with established protocols, processes, or procedures
or
master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
or
combination of education and experience.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
