About the Position: This position is with Directorate of Dental, Schofield Barracks Hawaii.
A locality rate of 21.17% has been authorized for Hawaii. A cost of living allowance has been authorized for Hawaii at the rate of 8.9% (subject to change).
Duties
Receive visitors and telephone calls, ascertains the nature of call or visit and determine appropriate actions.
Receive incoming correspondence; screens out items to be handled personally and forwards remainder to Supervisor and staff.
Maintain suspense files and follows up as required to assure timely replies.
Edit outgoing correspondence for procedural and grammatical accuracy and conformance with approved policy, factual correctness and adequacy of treatment.
Assemble and summarize information from files and documents for supervisor's use based on general instructions as the nature of the subject matter.
Assure supervisor is fully briefed prior to meetings and has all necessary background material.
Arrange conference and meetings by setting dates and time, reserving space and contacting conferees.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A qualified typist is required (40wpm)
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position requires screening for required immunizations and for evidence of tuberculosis.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Position may be designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: work that involves providing a range of administrative and office automation support such as handling incoming correspondence, inputting timecards, managing internal calendars, and providing excellent customer service. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
