This position is located at the Cheyenne River Indian Health Service in Eagle Butte, SD. The purpose of the position is to work alone or as a member of a crew to perform the full range of custodial duties in assigned quarter's units, following general instructions on the work to be completed.
Duties
Performs general maintenance tasks such as replacing ceiling tiles, hanging pictures, moving furniture and equipment, emptying trash, washing windows, cleaning supply and return grilles, unplugging drains with plunger.
Performs grounds maintenance duties such as mowing with large or complex riding mower or push mowers, edging, trimming trees and shrubs, picking up trash.
Performs quarters cleaning and assists with preventative maintenance and repairs and cleans work areas after repairs or renovations.
Vacuums, sweeps and mops floors and maintains floors such as concrete, sheet vinyl, and carpet. Uses residential and commercial cleaning equipment such as buffers, vacuums, and shampooers.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Physical Effort
Moving heavy furniture, controlling heavy powered equipment, carrying and setting up ladders and scaffolding, and working from ladders and scaffolds. Frequently lifts, carries, pulls and pushes supplies and equipment weighing up to and at times beyond fifty (50) pounds.
Working Conditions
The employee usually works indoors, in areas which normally have adequate heat, light, and ventilation. However, the employee occasionally works outdoors and is exposed to hot and cold weather when performing tasks such as taking out garbage, cleaning windows, picking up debris, sweeping and shoveling sidewalks to remove snow. The worker may be exposed to skin irritation from working with strong cleaning solutions inherent in cleaning tasks. Possibility exists of serious injuries from power cleaning equipment or from falls from ladders and scaffolds. Employee may be exposed to communicable disease and foul odors when handling waste and when cleaning areas of the facility. Employee must exercise care to avoid serious injuries when performing duties. Schedule is full time. Typically, 40 hours per week. Employee may be required to work rotating shifts. Work schedule will be set and may be changed to meet the demands of the facility.
