You will serve as a SOCIAL SERVICES ASSISTANT for the NAVAL CONSOLIDATED BRIG MIRAMAR.

Duties

You will evaluate client or prisoner needs in conjunction with a supervisor. You will manage case files to ensure entries are accurate. You will counsel prisoners to help cope with incarceration.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Work hours may be varied and include evenings and weekend. Official travel may be required.
  • Incumbent exercises normal safety and personal security practices required when working in a correctional setting. Must be able to pass through electronic doors and gates.
  • Incumbent works behind the secure perimeter and is in regular routine, direct and frequent contact with prisoners. Some assignments may require the physical ability to drive to sites.
  • Tuberculosis and blood borne pathogens are considered potential hazards in a correctional setting. Hepatitis vaccinations may be available to staff.
  • Must be able to participate in CPR Training.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Counseling prisoners within a correctional setting in accordance with rules and regulations of a correctional institution; 2) Conducting group or individual counseling of diverse individuals in order to meet treatment goals; 3) Maintaining records and case files of an extensive caseload to ensure entries reflect counseling in an accurate, secure and retrievable manner; 4) Serving as a member of a treatment team to develop program plans and deliver counseling services.
