This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Denver Federal Records Center. As an Archives Technician, you will work under the supervision of a supervisor or higher-graded technician experienced in the tasks associated with the incumbent's position. Incumbent performs various duties related to the delivery, transfer, reference, and accessioning or disposition of records, and provides assistance to agency customers.
Duties
As an ARCHIVES TECHNICIAN, you will:
Provide reference services by searching for records in various filing systems that are either cross-indexed or readily identified; refile or interfile records in various filing systems such as alphabetic, numeric, terminal digit, case file number, action date, etc.
Perform various duties related to the acceptance of incoming transfers of Federal records.
Use the Archives and Records Centers Information System (ARCIS) to search for records in various filing systems that are either cross-indexed or readily identifiable.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience for the GS-05 grade level is defined as one year of experience at the GS-04 grade level, or equivalent, that is typically in or related to the position and which equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience for this position must include:
Operating office automation programs for maintaining database information. AND
Reviewing files or documents for completeness and compliance with established guidelines. AND
Responding to customer inquiries, verbally or in writing.
OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 4 years above high school.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.
NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F):
For the GS-05, you must have been at the GS-04level for 52 weeks.
Advancement to positions up to GS-5: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
