About the Position: This Public Affairs Specialist is located at White Sands Missile Range, Commanding General Public Affairs Office with duty location of White Sands Missile Range, Dona Ana, New Mexico. (merit)

Duties

Assist in determining the objectives of the White Sands Missile Range information program. Advise leadership on public affairs implications of areas such as events, programs and activities. Serve as a Public Affairs specialist responsible for disseminating information to the public to support the mission of White Sands Missile Range. Develop Public Affairs plans for specific issues. Prepare items such as speeches, briefings and presentations for leadership. Serve as a spokesperson for the missile range to news media representatives on the organization’s activities that impact communities. Respond to media queries in a timely manner in accordance with Army policy. Facilitate interviews between individuals such as military/civilian leaders and journalist from local, regional and national news organizations. Maintain positive working relationship with news organizations. Develop recommendations to improve the nature of the missile range's public affairs program. Assist in the planning of installation community relations events in support of the information program. Provide public affairs support to the Emergency Operations Center as needed. Perform the duties of White Sand Missile Range Media Relations Chief.

Requirements

  • Must obtain and maintain a SECRET Security Clearance.
  • Temporary Duty travel (TDY) may be required up to 10%.
