This position is located in the Office of the Director/Judicial Conduct and Professionalism Unit, Executive Office for Immigration Review, U. S. Department of Justice. Incumbent serves as the Supervisory Attorney-Advisor and manages a team of attorneys, investigators, EEO Director, and/or other professional support staff in the review of complaints/actions filed.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to the following: Works closely with the Principal Counsel for Judicial Conduct and Professionalism and regularly consults with the Principal Counsel for Judicial Conduct and Professionalism. Supervises a team of attorneys and other professional support staff in analyzing complaints/actions referred or filed. Provides guidance in the evaluation of pertinent facts and evidence, and preparation and review of memoranda summarizing the facts of each complaint reviewed. Ensures all factual, procedural and substantive issues and relevant law related to complaints are processed in accordance with stated policies and regulations. Monitors work within the team to ensure timely, successful, and consistent accomplishments and ensures that assistance, additional training, and/or counseling is provided.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for the Supervisory Attorney Advisor position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications: Education: Applicants must possess an LL.B. or a J.D. degree. (Provide the month and year in which you obtained your degree and the name of the College or University from which it was conferred/awarded.) AND Licensure: Applicants must be an active member of the bar, duly licensed and authorized to practice law as an attorney under the laws of any state, territory of the U.S., or the District of Columbia. (Provide the month and year in which you obtained your first license and the State from which it was issued.) AND Required Experience: For GS-15: Applicants must have four (4) full years (48 months) of post J.D. or LL.B. professional legal experience. Qualifying professional legal experience includes: Knowledge of controlling statutes, regulations, and case law pertaining to judicial conduct and professionalism; develop legal opinions; conduct investigations to lead staff through investigation, litigation and/or administrative processes; present sound and creative reasoning, decision-making and expression of good judgment in writing; coordinate and manage actions related to productivity, quality case processing, and effective service to the public that requires interpreting and applying laws and regulations governing ethics, judicial conduct, and professionalism. (Your resume must CLEARLY demonstrate this experience) Preferred Experience: The ideal candidate will have experience with the following: Providing technical and administrative supervision over attorneys and professional staff within an organization. Planning and assigning work to subordinate attorneys and legal staff based on priorities and difficulty of the assignment.
