About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the ST-IC-W6GXAA HQ TRADOC.

Duties

Responsible for providing support to senior Security Specialists in the administration and enforcement of intelligence-related security programs in accordance with the AR 380-series regulations. Performs a variety of routine security duties related to the safeguard of personnel, classified information and equipment. Ensures control measures to safeguard and prevent loss of classified material are in place and updated as required. Assist personnel with initiating background investigations, verifying clearances, incident/derogatory reporting through JPAS, and assisting with the process for providing requested information on derogatory issues. Participates in or conducts SCI security briefings, indoctrinations, and debriefings; obtains signed Nondisclosure Agreements, and performs other security actions for SCI personnel. Establishes and maintains regular contact with personnel primarily internal to the organization to ensure flow of information, maintain coordination of security-related matters, and resolve security-related problems.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • May require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 25% of the time.
  • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. For more information, see note below in Additional Information.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience providing administrative support of multiple security disciplines that include two of the following: Personnel Security, Information Security, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Security. AND Experience assisting with application of established intelligence related Security policies/procedures. AND Experience safeguarding and ensuring proper control and use of classified documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-07). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series. OR A Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as National Security Studies, Political Science, International Relations/Foreign Affairs, Geography, Security Management/Administrations, Criminal Justice, Psychology, History, or Law. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (18 semester hours) by 18.
