This position is Term, Not-To-Exceed 2 years.
Duties
Prepare reference work utilizing readily accessible resources, as well as resources of a specialized or technical nature.
Assist with right sizing of collections.
Provide patron support functions in person or virtually.
Manage outreach through social media, events, and public displays to inform professional organizations and the general public.
Collaborate with others inside and outside of the organization in order to develop or improve products, services or programs.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may require you to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- This position requires lifting up to 40lbs.
- This position may require you to do business travel up to 5% of the time.
- Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
A. Completion of 2 full academic year of graduate study in library science in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a Master's degree.

B. A total of at least 5 years of a combination of college-level education, training, and experience. To qualify on this basis, the applicant must establish conclusively that the education, training, and experience provided a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Providing informational assistance to patrons; 2) Providing instruction to library patrons on the use of electronic resources; and 3) Researching information utilizing automated information systems; and 4) Developing and managing social media outreach in support of the agency. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education or master's in library science or equivalent graduate degree, e.g., LL.B. or J.D., related to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
