About the Position: Serves as a work leader engaged in work efforts of a police and security nature. Assists supervisor in planning work schedules.

Duties

Participate in civilian training regarding various law enforcement topics. Advise supervisor on performance, progress, disciplinary problems, and training needs of employees. Conduct traffic and security patrols to enforce laws and regulations. Prepare incident and activity reports. Perform a broad range of law enforcement, investigation, crime prevention, traffic control, and community policing. Oversee law enforcement officers conducting law enforcement duties.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Requires Secret Clearance (Tier 3).
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56: Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation. Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
  • IAW AR 190-56 this position is covered by the Individual Reliability Program (IRP), and has been designated by Department of Army as critical to the national or internal security.
  • Must obtain and maintain current required certifications in CPR techniques and First Aid.
  • This position authorizes the incumbent to carry a firearm. Must be proficient in the use of and qualify as required by regulations with assigned duty weapons, extendable baton, and pepper spray.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs
  • Personnel are required to obtain and maintain a valid state (and military) drivers license and possess the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and perform routine vehicle maintenance.
  • Incumbent must have the ability to operate and maintain official police bicycle.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Wearing of uniforms is required. May be required to wear protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, shield, and body armor.
  • IAW AR 190-56 and AR 670-10, a high state of uniform appearance and personal hygiene will be maintained at all times.
  • Must have successfully completed one of the following prior to hiring: Mixed Basic Police Officer Training Course at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC); An accredited civilian (Local or State) Law Enforcement Training Academy.
  • Must have successfully completed one of the following prior to hiring: A certified Military or Security Police training program (i.e. the United States Army Military Police School). An OPMG approved school may be substituted for this requirement.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain certification on the operation of police radar measuring instruments for use in detecting traffic offenders and other equipment as required.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
