About the position: This position will be assigned to the Aero Club, Air Force Academy, Colorado. This position does include benefits.

Duties

Diagnoses and corrects malfunctions of aircraft systems IAW FAA, AF, and manufacturer's procedures. After repair, does ground check (i.e. "run-up") of aircraft systems as necessary to ensure proper operation. Performs scheduled inspections in accordance with Air Force and FAA regulation and manufacturer recommendation. Performs annual inspections IAW FAR Part 43. Performs major alterations and repairs. Supervises progressive inspections. Prior to all required inspections conducts a thorough preflight and ground run to identify aircraft discrepancies to be resolved during the inspection. Accomplishes Airworthiness Directives and manufacturer's service bulletins as applicable to aircraft. Treats aircraft for corrosion in accordance with FAA Advisory Circular 43-4, Corrosion Control for Aircraft. Performs other less complex duties as required such as removal, cleaning, repair and replacement of various aircraft parts and components; washing, deicing and decontamination of aircraft; may assist in maintenance/repair of fuel cells. Inspects and approves aircraft for return to service after major alterations and repairs. Manages parts inventory and bench stock including doing required research with various vendors, related records and documentation, gaining prior approval for expenditures on parts and outsourced labor, labeling and stocking parts, and purchasing items as directed according to Air Force and FAA regulations. Takes measures to ensure security of purchased items. Maintains shop tools and equipment in safe and operational condition. Ensures equipment is calibrated and certified annually. Takes appropriate measures to prevent mishaps. Maintains maintenance reference library (thru ATP database and paper files) according to Air Force, FAA, and FTC regulations. Includes aircraft, engine, and propeller service manuals, airworthiness directives, service letters, and service bulletins for each make and model aircraft maintained, and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and Advisory Circulars. Manages hangar facilities as directed by ensuring that FTC and tenant aircraft are parked and moved in an orderly fashion that will not cause damage to aircraft or equipment. Maintains refueling facilities and ramp area including items such as replacing fuel filters and receiving fuel purchases, clearing snow, etc. Ensures work area (include hangar, shop, office, and parts room) is kept neat. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have an exceptional knowledge of the makeup, operation and installation of a variety of light aircraft systems, assemblies, and components; ability to detect and isolate malfunctions and determine when new assemblies, components and parts should be installed or when these items can be repaired or reworked and the extent of adjustment required. Skill is required in removal, replacement and adjustment of systems and assemblies and in connecting, meshing, aligning and adjusting the various systems and components with each other; must be skilled in the use of jigs, precision measuring equipment, and mechanics' hand tools, in the use and readout of powered ground equipment, test stands, and cockpit instruments and controls. Must possess a current FAA A&P rating and be eligible to obtain an FAA Inspector Authorization rating IAW FAR Part 65. Must have the ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner. Must be physically able to lift object weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequently stands, bends stoops, crawls and work in tight spaces. This position requires the incumbent to satisfactorily complete the applicable background investigations. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
