This announcement is in conjunction with the Eielson AFB Hiring Event to be held on Wednesday, 06 November 2024 from 10:00AM - 3:00PM at the Hotel North Pole in North Pole, Alaska. This position will be assigned to the Midnight Sun Mocha Coffee Shop within the Yukon Club facility. Work schedule subject, but not limited to: Monday 6:30AM - 10:30AM Tuesday - Friday (Summer Months) 6:30AM - 11:30AM Tuesday - Friday (Winter Months) 6:30AM - 1:30PM Incumbent must be at least 16+ years of age.

Duties

1. Prepares specialty beverages in a specialty coffee operation. Operates a commercial grade espresso machine. Grinds fresh coffee beans. Prepares beverage by adjusting the grind of the beans. Dosing the amount of coffee to be used, tamps down the ground coffee in the basket and obtains the desired extraction. Completes non-alcoholic specialty beverages according to customer requests and established recipes. Drinks included but may not be limited to cappuccinos, brewed coffees, lattes, espressos, hot chocolate, frappuccinos, etc. Must select proper ingredients and adjust recipes for customers if requested. Serves other mixed (non-alcoholic) beverages such as iced coffees, fruit drinks, smoothies and more by selecting proper ingredients and following recipes. Serves and prepares assorted items such as condiments, sandwiches, cookies, muffins, pastries etc. Serves patrons directly, receives payment, operates cash register, and returns change to patrons. Maintains all equipment to include espresso machine, drip coffee maker, blender, etc., are in good working order, following cleaning instructions and proper sanitation methods. 2. Sets up work area for operations and obtains cash bank. Maintains neat and clean work area. Sets up/cleans tables for customers and replenish condiment items and stocks as necessary. Sets up and operates dishwasher, performs preventative maintenance and cleaning, scrapes, soaks, scours glassware, dishes and utensils as required. Food Service workers perform heavy-duty cleaning tasks throughout the food service and related areas, such as cleaning ceilings; cleaning spaces under and behind equipment, including moving the equipment; washing floors and walls with powered cleaning equipment; cleaning walk-in refrigerators and freezers; and sanitizing garbage cans. May unload and organize stock from delivery truck. Collects/transfers trash from work area to disposal area. 3. Assists with inventories and identifies items for re-ordering. Prepares required documentation for cash funds accountability. 4. Incumbent is responsible for independently completing work as scheduled after initial oral or written instructions and when changes or new assignments are made. Supervisor provides guidance and evaluates work performance and is available to answer questions and resolve customer dissatisfactions. Supervisor periodically checks to see that work is done on time and in accordance with instructions. Work is evaluated on ability to carry out supervisor's instructions concerning work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines. 5. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position has physical lifting requirements which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience in and knowledge of methods and products relating to specialty coffee preparation or similar activity; Must have knowledge of a variety of drink recipes and knowledge of coffee beans and teas typically served at a specialty coffee operation. Must be able to know how to safely use equipment such as an espresso machine. Must be able to memorize specialty coffee drink recipes. Must have the ability to hear and follow oral and/or written instructions, work safely, and do simple arithmetic. Must be able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop. push, pull and bend for long periods of time.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
