This Position is located at Fort Bliss, TX.
Duties
Develop and Conduct the overall Fire Prevention and Public Education Program for an agency.
Instructs department personnel in all phases of fire protection and prevention techniques.
determine adequacy of life safety systems and implement appropriate regulations with respect to compliance with prescribed methods and codes and requirements peculiar to these types of facilities
Develops the program based upon the training needs of personnel as defined in DoD instructions, Army regulations, NFPA standards and approved methods and techniques.
Responds to emergency incidents and assumes immediate control until relieved by the next ranking supervisor.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program.
- Incumbent must successfully complete an annual Job Performance Test
- Incumbent must participate in a cardiovascular physical fitness program
- Incumbent must wear a uniform and appropriate safety apparel in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- This position requires the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid state and government driver's license is required.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- Designated Mission Essential Position: Incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: implementing or providing training in fire protection and prevention for an organization; participating in overseeing training drills and exercises concerning firefighting rescue functions; providing technical advisory services to management on all matters pertaining to fire protection and prevention and assisting in executing inspection and training duties to ensure the organization meets the training requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess Fire Officer II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, HAZMAT Incident Commander, Incident Safety Officer, Airport Firefighter, HAZMAT Technician certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M .
