This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Competitive Service Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: ???????The incumbent will serve as an Engineering Technician with DPW (Directorate of Public Works) in Fort Riley, KS.
Duties
Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and Geographic Information System (GIS) operation and maintenance requirements
Prepares drawings and maps using CAD and GIS relating to space management, community planning, and civil engineering fields.
Coordinates and directs the control and accomplishment of quality standards of development of architecture/engineering project by developing a drawing layout plan including informational maps and charts.
Prepares and maintains charts, graphs, maps, tabulations and reports required for installation planning activities as requested by higher authority.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5 % of the time.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a Government Drivers license within 90 days of employment.

GS-09 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: performing technical inspections to plan for facility improvement(s); analyzing designs to ensure adherence to published standards; and utilizing computer software engineering systems to produce informational or technical products for an organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Education: Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as engineering, construction, or industrial technology.
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
