The New Mexico VA Healthcare Network is recruiting for a Mason located in the Maintenance and Operations section of the Engineering Department under the Carpenter and Internal Project section. The incumbent performs maintenance, repairs, applications and installation associated with a variety of building trades tasks through- out the medical facility.
Duties
Duties include but not limited to:
Repairs and makes alterations to masonry walls by demolishing existing construction where necessary and installing new brick, concrete block, tile and/or structural sidewalks.
Mix mortar according to job requirements.
Mixes and applies scratch, brown and white coats of plaster to repair existing and finish new walls and ceilings.
Performs cement finishing duties when work is required as part of the maintenance and alterations program.
Use a variety of hand and power tools such as brick or napping hammer, brick or skill saw in cutting and shaping brick and axe, pick, chisel, and hammer in cutting or shaping stone.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The position involves heavy work, occasionally lifting of 100 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Work requires continual standing, walking, climbing, and bending. Ladders, scaffolds, swing stages and platforms are sued to provide access to work on interiors and exteriors of buildings.
