Duties
Serve as a primary Tumor Registry and Certified Tumor Registrar which is responsible for the cancer registry database.
Responsible for assuring data quality is compliant with cancer program standards and to update the cancer registry.
Perform and ensures uniform and consistent-coding and reporting of all diagnoses according to program and regulatory requirements and guidelines.
Ensure proper sequencing of primary tumors, assure accurate documentation of procedures, and provides documentation to support the National Cancer Data Base, Cancer Program Practice Profile Reports, and Rapid Quality Reporting System.
Collect and reports annual metrics such as new cases abstracted into Oncology or percentage of patient follow-up completion to the Cancer Registry Consultant
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.

Minimum Qualifications for the GS-09:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes overseeing the privacy of, and access to, protected health information in compliance with federal and state laws; coordinating with personnel involved in the release of protected health information to ensure full coordination and understanding of policies, procedures, and legal requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Medical Records Administration. or Healthcare Administration.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Minimum Qualifications for the GS-11:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes collecting and reporting annual metrics of patient care at a medical treatment facility; Conducting workload accuracy audits; and providing training or guidance on policies, procedures, or legislative requirements for patient information reporting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Medical Records Administration or Healthcare Administration.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
