About the Position: Located at Fox Army Health Center SSO Stand-Alone MTF Redstone Arsenal, AL.
Duties
Execution of the physical security, crime prevention and anti-terrorism programs as directed by the MTF Provost Marshal/Security Officer.
Executes Random Anti-Terrorism Measures (RAM) as directed.
Provides personal security of patients, staff (including addressing the risks of violence in the workplace), and visitors coming to the MTF.
Monitors personnel access via both personal sight and electronic access control systems into restricted areas and intrusion detection system alarms using both manual and electronic methods.
Refers and documents information on individuals without adequate identification in the guard journal.
Conducts periodic parcel, package, container, and equipment checks following prescribed special procedures to ensure only authorized property is brought into or removed from military treatment facility.
Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a valid US state and local government driver's license.
- Required to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. Pre-employment physical required and annually thereafter.
- Firearms testing and successful qualification to service component published standards required on a semi-annual basis. This may include firing at night, with one hand, or while under time or physical stress.
- Position requires employee to perform routine and emergency daily duties while wearing a uniform and/or protective clothing.
- You will be prepared to execute the lawful orders of critical incident commanders, military or civilian, and assigned duties as such.
- Employee must be trained and maintain current required certifications in CPR and first aid. May act as a first responder in a medical emergency.
- This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
- Those not able to obtain or maintain this standard must be immediately removed from all security duties involving the handling, carrying, or transferring of firearms.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience including 1) Providing Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass or maintaining order and protecting life. 2) Operating firearms, TASER's, collapsible batons, and other less than lethal weapons to maintain order and life. 3) Maintaining a working knowledge of the hospital's emergency management plans and all associated security requirements, internal codes/alarms and appropriate responses. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
