This position serves as a Contact Representative and the primary purpose of this position is to function as the Patient Benefits Coordinator, assuring the identification of patients who are eligible for alternate resources and assisting patients in obtaining those resources. This position reports to the Business Office Manager of the Clinton Indian Health Center.
Duties
Assures maximum identification methods for patients who have or are eligible for alternate resources by implementing screening, referring, and interviewing methods.
Verifies third party eligibility of patients by contacting the various alternate resources or programs, i.e. Social Security, Department Social Services (DSS), Private Insurance Company, etc.
Assists patients on applications to enroll in various alternate resources, as well as providing information on rights and benefits of these resources and advises patients on approval or denial of programs.
Continuously researches to interpret information and provide updates involved changes in alternate resources.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: demonstrated experience working with a health care delivery system; assessing and educating patients in regards to unique health services and program eligibility; assisting patients through the enrollment process for each benefit; researching alternate resources; interpreting comprehensive rules and procedures for outside resources.
GS-08: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: certifying the eligibility requirements for health care benefit programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security Insurance, and similar resources provided by the medical facility; compiling data and writing reports; conducting comprehensive patient interviews to determine eligibility for alternate health insurance resources; providing recommendations to patients on the various health care benefit programs and eligibility criteria based on current health care laws and regulations; conducting extensive research and providing benefit updates involving changes in rules and regulations for alternate resources.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
