You will serve as a Legal Assistant for the Small Business Administration (SBA), Office of Capital Access (OCA), Office of Financial Programs Operations (OFPO), Disaster Lending Operations Division (DLOD), COVID-19 EIDL Servicing Center (CESC) in Fort Worth, Texas. This position provides oversight in all phases of operation of the COVID and Economic and Injury Disaster Loan Servicing Center.
Duties
As a Legal Assistant at the GS-0986-6, some of your typical work assignments may include:
Preparing and/or reviewing legal or loan documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance to assist individual borrowers with residential and/or business loans.
Performing clerical functions, which include answering inquiries promptly, handling sensitive information securely and professionally, and dealing with controversial issues tactfully.
Presenting information clearly and professionally, producing well-written grammatically correct, error-free materials, and contacting colleagues or external customers regarding inquiries.
Using computer and other electronic equipment and software applications to produce written reports, spreadsheets, emails, and other documents or reports.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
This is a Term Appointment, which is a Competitive service position and does not confer competitive status, reinstatement rights, or eligibility for non-competitive conversion to a permanent job to the individual(s) selected. You may be promoted or reassigned to another term position within SBA's Office of Capital Access; however, you may not be non-competitively appointed to another Federal position. You will be given an initial Term Appointment up to 1 year, but not more than 4 years. If all other conditions of employment are met, this appointment may be extended, up to a total of four (4) years in increments determined by SBA.

The COVID-19 EIDL Servicing Center (CESC) Ft. Worth, TX location is conveniently located near the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and DART/TRE Station. In addition, employees are eligible to apply for transportation subsidy to utilize the local DART/TRE bus/rail transit system.
Mandatory Overtime: In order to respond quickly and efficiently to disaster survivors, substantial compensated overtime hours may be required while on assignment (up to seven days a week and ten to fourteen hours a day).
Additional selections may be made from this announcement if identical vacancies occur within 180 days from the closing date.

- THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT THE FORT WORTH OFFICE AND LEGAL ASSISTANTS ARE REQUIRED TO REPORT TO THE OFFICE FOR WORK FOUR DAYS A WEEK.
Qualifications

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If qualifying based on related unpaid (e.g. volunteer service) experience, you must provide hours worked per week and beginning/ending dates (mm/yyyy to mm/yyyy).
You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Experience:
To receive credit, you must indicate the month and year as well as the average hours worked per week for each employer. Average work hours must be stated on the resume to quantify each period of work experience or that experience will not be credited toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.
You must address the specific specialized experience required for each grade level of this position on your resume or application or you will be rated "Ineligible" for that grade level.
GS-06: To qualify you must have at least 1 full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the GS-05 level in the Federal service that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skill, and ability to perform successfully in this position. This experience may have been gained in a Non-Federal service position. In addition, this Specialized Experience must demonstrate the following:
Providing customer service by responding to internal or external customer inquiries; and
Experience utilizing mobile and desktop productivity applications such as web browsers, email, spreadsheets, and word processing; and
Maintaining or safeguarding documents/records containing sensitive or confidential information in a business environment, such as
documents containing personal financial information or Personally Identifiable Information (PII); and
Preparing or proofing legal documents.
